“Well, damn,” he thought to himself as the plane took off from Detroit Metro Airport; he had a sinking feeling that this would be the last time he wrestled in the Motor City for a long while.
Lion’s Road had suspended operations. Mushigihara would not get a chance to add its championship gold to his resume.
It wasn’t all a failure, though; his long-time partner and friend David Troy had re-secured the King of Lions World’s Heavyweight Championship for the second, and likely last, time. But right now, as Mushigihara sat in first-class accommodations, he dwelled on the road ahead.
His mind went to Frank Dylan James; another chapter awaited in what promised to be a long, hallowed saga of wrestling history. He was scheduled to face him back home in Japan this week, and then again in the United States in a city called Biloxi, with Frank’s Strong Style Grand Prix title up for grabs. He instinctively squeezed his elbow, remembering the pain he felt last time they battled, as Go Gensai locked his arm and forced a referee stoppage because the God-Beast would not submit.
He would not get another chance to battle the old bastard. A tinge of regret bubbled in his stomach. As Lion’s Road and Maximum Japan both bade farewell, the God-Beast would still press on.
“Well, there goes any more promos by ME…” he thought to himself, as he asked the American flight attendant for “jaw-knee wall-kah boo-racku.”

No cold open, no fancy voiceover tactics. The closure of two giants in the wrestling world put paid to luxuries like professional camera work. Now, we’re watching a cell phone camera video.
It’s a balcony overlooking the city of Yokohama. The God-Beast stands near the ledge, looking at the skyline.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?
“This is where it all ends. Maximum Japan Pro Wrestling comes to a close here tomorrow night, and then it’s off to Tokyo for Black Lion’s Road. I don’t have to tell you about the news of Lion’s Road’s closure; no one seems to know if Black will follow suit or take on the mantle moving forward, but I’m going to pay tribute to both companies by doing that which I do best.”
The monster of Mito turns to us.
“Fighting.
“First it’s the tag match here in Yokohama, where I get to soften up ol’ Eff Dee Jay before I see him again in the States and maybe impart some sort of wisdom on Earth Warrior and Balloon Yamazaki before Max-J calls time. And then, it’s off to Tokyo and GRIM. Now THAT…”
With a smile, the God-Beast turns his body to us and steps forward a few.
“THAT, I’m excited for. GRIM’s one hell of a fighter! Now THAT is what I wanted to end my year on, just a crazy, NASTY bastard who isn’t afraid to talk about fighting and killing gods, and claw and fang his way to victory. But he doesn’t know what I’m capable of… especially with no pesky rules to tell me what I can and can’t do, no rules to keep me from dragging Heaven and Hell themselves into that ring and fight a holy war for the AGES!”
Mushigihara bellows in laughter!
“And when all is said and done, GRIM… I don’t know what will become of your Demon Brigade, but rest assured, you will never be the same. Not after I show you the battle of an eternity! Not after we turn Tokyo into our own personal warpath like the kaiju of legend! And ESPECIALLY not after I give you a FIRST-HAND DEMONSTRATION of why they call me…”
A chuckle.
“...God-Beast.
“With no rule book, that wrestling ring will become a battleground for divine wrath the likes of which has NEVER been seen in a Japanese ring! Prepare yourself, GRIM… Frank Dylan James...
“For if this truly the end of Max-J and Lion’s Road… let’s give all the people who will come to pay their respects a wake they will never, EVER forget!
“OSU!!!”
With another laugh and a gleeful nod, the God-Beast turns back to the night sky as the video cuts.
