(written within an hour to hopefully make the deadline. Apologies for deadline bombing, the site was down for me when I attempted to drop something earlier. Hopefully this will give the impression that I am in fact trying to make a good first one within this new group and that I will be an active member of it.)
The basic scenario of a press conference is where a wrestler calls upon a number of reporters to a public or private area and makes some sort of announcement. Typically, press conferences are only used for important matters in the Japanese Wrestling world. A quiet buzz around Maximum Japan Pro-Wrestling had leaked onto the internet over the last few days, the rumors of The Everlasting Hero was contacted for a potential signing and that he was coming to the promotion. These rumors would eventually be confirmed by the company themselves as the final two cards for the J1 Summit featured the name of Masanori Kawada and ever since the announcement contact with the man himself has been difficult. Today, a press conference was called by Maximum Japan to have the man himself appear for the first time since his appearances were booked. Flashing bulbs ignite the conference room wall in anticipation of the arrival of All-Might. Sure enough, wearing a snazzy yellow pin-stripe suit with a blue tie going down his white dress shirt, Masanori Kawada takes to the stand, waving to the masses and shaking hands with reporters who have gotten close enough to the podium. As the chatter of the crowd quietens down, Kawada raises the microphone to his mouth. "It is good to know that the Everlasting Hero can be welcomed with such open arms as he ventures out and seeks new ambitions, I am truly thankful for that. Maximum Japan have been trying to come into contact with me over the past weeks during the J1 Summit, stating that they wish to test my might within their company. It took a while for the message to be relayed to me and, when it did, it caught my interest. It sounded like a challenge, an opportunity for myself to finally accomplish the feat that has evaded me for my entire career." He flicks his tongue across his bottom lip, letting the tension rise before he gave away the answer. Glancing around, he took in the faces of the audience and see quite a few very much focused on him. For the majority of my career, I was a junior. I wrestled under the Ultraman Neos persona for over ten years. In that time, I captured every prestigious Junior Heavyweight or other named championship for that weight class from around the world. I unified them to create the J-Crown before it was later abolished. I achieved everything there is to achieve in the Junior Heavyweight world. After my absence, I returned with a new physique and without the identity of Ultraman Neos. I passed that legacy on as it was passed onto me. And for the last 10 years, I competed as a Heavyweight wrestler under my real name. My time as a heavyweight has yet to be as fruitful as my Neos days. I won the sporadic title in the weight class but never captured the grand prize. I have yet to become a company Heavyweight Champion. I have yet to become a companies ace. That is why I am here in Strong Style Wrestling. To become the ace. Some people question my ability to do it because of my age. I am pushing into my 40's. But I am still going as strong as ever. Until I achieve that goal, I still have plenty to fight for in this business. I still have embers that can be poked to keep this fire well and truly alive. Maximum Japan is what I hope pokes those embers. I see heavy competition here, and I wish to test my mettle against each and every single member of this roster." Pulling the microphone away from his mouth, he had paused altogether. With the answer that has been at the back of his mind for weeks now out there, Kawada paces slowly, only a couple of times before the silence becomes borderline too much. When that feeling hits him, he knew that's his cue to pick back up. "Though, I have to be completely transparent. I also look at this industry and see rotten apples among the bunch. I see men who walk the halls with a reckless abandon, a mindset of chaos and a hunger for anarchy. I see absolute gluttons for a chaotic pro-wrestling world and it disgusts me. This industry was once considered a sport of kings before the marauders came in and began to tarnish its great name. That is but another reason I have come to this company; to cure a sickness that plagues this business; to deliver justice to those who have avoided its prosecution for far too long. I hope there are some of you that agree with that. Better yet, I hope there are members of this companies roster that agrees with that and also wish to make a stand against the rogues of this industry, and to them, I hope they welcome me to their ranks." Kawada looks over the sea of people to see if there is any objection to that claim. There wasn't one. "So, take heed, to those within Maximum Japan that wish to bring upon this industry chaos and disarray, my limit has yet to be reached by any man in this industry, and none of you will be any different. I will always break my limits to serve the justice that will keep puroresu a sport of honor and respect and the glory of a job well done will come in the form... of the MAX Heavyweight Championship... There is an awe that breaks out with those in attendance as the flashbulbs explode once again. Kawada reels them back in. "That is an honor that I will one day claim. That is a promise that I intend to keep, no matter how long and treacherous the road to claiming it will be. This company possesses some of this nations strongest fighters, but no one will ever be mightier than the Everlasting Hero! And, to those that wish to test my might, this is my open invitation, you are welcome to try. If you hold doubts, my performance over the remainder of the J1 Summit should dispell them. But to all within Maximum Japan, I will leave you with the warning that I give all my competition, a warning for the impact and the justice that I bring to every outing..." Kawada strikes his dynamic pose as he screams his catchphrase with a booming voice as the violent flashes of hundreds of cameras ignite.
