“AAAAAAAHHHHH!”
Priestess Chiaki fell backwards with her feet kicked up in the air, for even she could not prepare herself for the horror that awaited her inside Lord Zenki’s earthly dwelling. His room seemed to slip in an out of reality from the small rift in the center of the room and mere mortals cannot usually process such rip into the void, the land of the Kishin, and she had just received a first-hand look directly into the Other World. But it wasn’t that which dared to drive her primitive mind insane.
“These childish apes are so primitive.”
But it was one of our monstrous “Angels of Death”, Ryuk, one of Lord Zenki’s oldest and most trusted friends that truly terrified her. His imagine was one seemingly of decay as compared to Zenki’s royal form. Ryuk sat across from Zenki, enjoying a bowl full of apples as Zenki feasted upon an assortment of nuts and seeds, both drinking from a jug Ryuk had brought from beyond.
“You’ve risked much coming here old friend. You know all too well what these primitive beasts are capable of. There savagery masked with righteousness, superiority with compassion, but for all their faults we’ve never met a creature so…”
Zenki chuckled as he drank from the jug, his eyes a little cockeyed and his speech a little slurred.
“Interesting.”
Ryuk too seemed to find pleasure in this idea, that and the slowly deteriorating state of his drinking buddy. But his true intentions where a bit masked and guarded at the moment, he had been watching the story of his friend from the void and had begun to find a rising curiosity in those Zenki had taken up with.
The dark wizard GRIM seemed to be a mortal manifestation of Ryuk’s own nature, sending terror into anyone who saw his actions. He worked from the confines of a dark and sinister nature while paying honors to a dark lord of his own finding from one of the other realms of reality.
Then there was the monk, a man who was the opposite of the other in every way. The true yin to the yang. The one who had managed to walk in the void, to gain the attention of Zenki originally. He was truly a mortal like no other and had begun to reach even further heights of knowledge and power even in the little time he had spent in the Brigade.
These two not only worked together to claim glory, but even had found true purpose under Zenki, the Lord of Thunder and Light who now held the highest glory that a mortal could claim.
“What a long way you have little Zenki.”
Zenki was seemingly oblivious now to the words of Ryuk as the Demon Juice had already started to alter the state of his mind as he started to climb up the wall to take a seat upon the ceiling as he stared at Chiaki who still was laid out upon the ground outside.
“You’ve been gone to long from home Zenki and I fear you may never be able to return if you stay here. But your short time here has also caused you to develop into so much more than what was originally believed to be your potential.”
Ryuk blows upon his drink, icy cold fingers of death dance upon the glass as he chills the contents inside.
“You were nothing more than a runt, destined to stay no more than a Demon Child and sent here as punishment as the protector of these little isles. But you did what no one else had done, you’ve communicated with the beasts here. Wrestled with their monsters and gathered knowledge along the way. Their tricks have become your tools and their silenced fears your power. You’ve now risen a Brigade to do battle against foreign pollutants. But now.”
Ryuk drinks from the glass.
“You enemies travel to you on beasts of iron looking to invade the land you now cling to so dearly. The beasts of the west no threaten to burn down everything you’ve built here. They come to prove that your nothing in their world overseas and your nothing but tricks, smoke and mirrors over here. I look forward to seeing how you handle these enemies.
Ryuk, the demon of the dark slowly hovers into the air and over Lord Zenki, patting the shoulder of the now sleeping Kishin Lord.
“Until next time “Lord” Zenki.”
With that he is gone, seemingly sucked back into the Void.
