GRIM sat upon his throne, brooding while all around him his followers scurried around him, preparing Jorogumo’s new temple to be officially christened. He paid attention to none of it. Instead he sat with his eyes closed and muttered incantations under his breath.
The high priestess, Sentai, took note of her lord and slowly made her way to his side, stopping along the way to answer questions of one of their many followers, or sending someone off to fulfills an errand before Jin Hirai found cause to whip them. She finally reached him and laid a hand upon his own.
“What troubles you, Lord GRIM,” she asked, “The temple is almost ready and will be ready for Jorogumo’s arrival.”
Normally GRIM would have swatted her hand aside and yell at her for even daring to touch him, but now he didn’t even feel the touch of her skin upon his own. He didn’t answer her, instead he continued to recite his spells and murmur under his breath.
After waiting for several moments, Sentai finally left GRIM’s side and returned to her duties, organising the remaining details for the temple’s ceremony and the arrival of the Spider Lady. Her thoughts turned to “Attack of the Castle” Tour. In many ways Lord GRIM had redeemed himself over the last few weeks after what some felt was a poor showing last month. The Lions Road World Tag Team Titles, talismans from which the power of the Demon Brigade had grown to greater heights, were still firmly in their control and havoc reigned throughout all of Maximum Japan. All seemed to be going well, and yet there sat Lord GRIM, lost to those around him.
Lord GRIM suddenly cried out and every eye in the temple turned to him. The dark wizard ignored their shocked looks as he stood up and marched out of the room Sentai handed the documents she was holding to one of her handmaidens and rushed off after him.
“Lord GRIM,” she called.
The wizard ignored her cries and continued marching. He came to the flight of stairs that led to the roof and headed up them. Sentai followed right at his heels, a concerned look upon her face.
They both quickly made it to the top of the stairs and GRIM threw the door open. He dashed across the roof and looked of to the West. Sentai soon joined him and looked between him and the horizon.
“I have been given a vision,” GRIM said.
“Of what, my lord,” Sentai asked. It was not uncommon for the Spider Lady to use her personal connection with the dark wizard to send him images of things her own dark powers had shown her.
“A great trial will soon be upon us.”
Sentai gave him a confused look.
“Do you mean your match with Lord Zombie against Mike Musket and Jun Vegas? Surely the Demon Brigade is more than up for the task. That is why Jorogumo bestowed upon you the power to make her poison even stronger.”
GRIM shook his head slowly, never removing his eyes from his view of the west.
“Tokyo Zombie and I will defeat Musket and Vegas, or we will lose. At this moment it matters little. I must prepare myself, for a trial like none other threatens to undo everything we’ve worked so hard to created.
Sentai gasped, hearing the uncertainty in her lord’s voice. She had never heard him speak like this before, there was a bit of fear in his voice.
“What could possibly stand before the might of Jorogumo and the Demon Brigade,” she asked.
He finally turned his eyes from the west and looked to her.
“Not what, who. Jorogumo has told me that the Storm is coming and he’s bringing his fire with him!”
