PRO-WRESTLING TOUKON Vol. 1
10/14/2018
Yamato Athletic Plaza, Fukuoka, Japan
It’s been a crazy day for MJPW.
Across town, as we speak, MAX-J owner Chikashi Enatsu is running a tag team tournament where partnering Lion’s Road Pro-Wrestling fighters with MAX Dojo fighters in an effort to win 20,000,000 yen (approx. $178,000) in a war that is currently brewing between Enatsu and MAX GM Masaaki Sano. So, you would think that here at PRO-WRESTLING TOUKON Vol. 1, we would see lower than average attendance. However, the all-black Demon Brigade t-shirts accounted for perhaps 20% of the crowd, many of them carrying signs and banners with “EXPEL THE BARBARIANS” for all to see, a reference to GM Masaaki Sano’s unilateral decision to ban Lion’s Road fighters from tonight’s show.
On the BATTLETRON, fans were greeted to camera crews following around the participants in tonight’s title matches.
Despite his campsite being vandalized earlier this week, Mike Musket appeared in good spirits as Jun Vegas and he ran through grappling drills, the two men both serious and composed going into the World Tag Team Championship. GRIM and Tokyo Zombie, for their part, seemed completely at peace. The fans were disgusted when they noticed GRIM carrying a mangy, dead rat in his hands. But with the tag team title in other hand, fans were reminded of the man’s championship pedigree.
For the MAX Heavyweight Title, Nakama was found running through some sparring drills, lighting up his trainer’s blocking pad with punching combinations and heavy knee strikes. All the while, Arnold Cunningham could be heard cheering him onto victory. But Nakama’s face was steely, sadistic at times as his strikes pushed back his trainer. Seemingly, he grew stronger with every movement. Yet the question remains: Will it be enough?
As for the champion, the fans didn’t need to look far as he parachuted down from the rafters! Sailing through the air with the MAX Heavyweight Championship around his waist, Demon Lord ZENKI descended into the ring to the delight of the crowd. He took the microphone, and despite the flamboyant entrance, was unexpectedly measured. After thanking the fans, he promised that he would showcase the results of his new training in a matter of hours.
And with that, the ring cleared, the lights darkened and PRO-WRESTLING TOUKON Vol. 1 began…
Gensai and Minamoto worked well together in the opening bout, frequently teaming to keep the MAX Dojo student, Balloon Yamazaki, from tagging in the gargantuan FDJ. Gensai targeted Yamazaki’s limbs while Minamoto worked in strikes to the head with repeated jumping high kicks. But when FDJ was in the ring, there was always hell to pay. Gensai was literally tossed out over the top rope and Minamoto was hit with a chokeslam that forced a clearout later in the match! But when FDJ would clear out to pursue Gensai on the outside of the ring, he wouldn’t see Minamoto dive through the ropes like a missile and knock him into the aisle! With Gensai alone in the ring with Yamazaki, the Pale General slicing him down with a kicking combination and securing a heel hook for the tapout victory.
After the match, Gensai and Minamoto were seen hailing a taxi outside of the arena. Our crack reporter Solomon Bentley was hot on their tail and it seems that they were bound quickly for, you guessed it, Sawara Municipal Gymnasium where they will be competing in the Enatsu Special Tournament to win 20,000,000 yen, airing on wPPV.
We also caught up with FDJ. Despite a singles loss to Matt Pulver, he bounced back nicely on yesterday’s GAIJIN NO SPECIAL picking up a win and has seemingly earned the both the respect and fear of the fans.
In an unexpected match made during the wee morning hours, this match was a sloppy and brawling fest. Hammer would absorb headbutts from Kusumoto throughout the match, but the American Monster would keep Kusumoto from getting too far as he would respond with knife-edged chops to the chest. Hammer would hit an inverted atomic drop and a Diamond Cutter for a 1-2-2.5 count later in the match that caught the fans attention.
An offensive stretch by Hammer which featuring a stinger splash followed by a bulldog and then with a running forearm smash would be interrupted by Kusumoto’s rolling koppu kick which bloodied Hammerstein’s face. Kusumoto would hit a German suplex hold for just a two-count and then go to the ground for a submission. But Hammerstein showed off his training and was able to lock on a kimura, but Kusumoto seemingly found the ropes.
Hammer hit a few closed fists, which prompted an angry referee to give him a formal warning, and then loaded up the Hammersteiner. But Kusumoto blocked it by wrapping a foot around Hammer’s leg and went for the inside cradle for a 1-2-2.9. Hammer jumped up but ran right into a no-touch headbutt that put him back down. Kusumoto would hoist Hammer up with the Golem Thunder Bomb to get the 1-2-3 en route to an impressive victory.
We learned after the match and Kusumoto’s impressive win, that he will fight on 11/3 versus Lynx for the MAX Junior Heavyweight Championship. Kusumoto was reportedly honored and promised to bring home the gold.
Fans wondered what METAL HERO would look like given the shoot-oriented nature of this bout. The cybernetic warrior emerged in a black singlet and wearing a stripped down black mask in place of his usually more helm-like mask. One of his eyes were brown and the other was blue, creating an unusual sight to behold as he and the also masked Lynx stared down one another in the early going.
The hasty organization of the match was evident in the early going, with both men struggling to gain offense, but it picked up in the middle of the first round when Lynx scored a takedown and put HERO on his back. However, despite their wrestling around, Lynx was unable to lock in a submission to try and end the match. Once the two fighters got up to their feet, the bell sounded and the first round came to a close.
In the second, METAL HERO exploited the sport form rules which allow for kicks with the top of the foot. He kept a distance from the explosively athletic Lynx and peppered him with shots. Of course, Lynx also aware of the rules, continued to shoot in knowing that a knee-counter would be illegal. But HERO kept him at bay, and at around the four-minute mark of the second round launched a roundhouse kick to the head that crumpled the Jr. champ! The referee quickly called the match and the fans went nuts as METAL HERO raised his fists and roared to the sky!
Lynx reportedly was in good health after the match and doctors determined that he had not suffered a concussion but wanted to observe him overnight. METAL HERO was nowhere to be found after the match, but his presence was felt and now the junior heavyweight division appears much more complicated.
The highly anticipated showdown between the Demon Brigade team looking to make their V3 defense of the World Tag Team Championship would see GRIM and Tokyo Zombie take on the upstart tag team known as ACES WILD!, consisting of the first MAX Heavyweight Champion, Mike Musket, and the rapidly ascending “Outlaw” Jun Vegas. This match has also taken on special importance given that it is widely believed the Demon Brigade was somehow involved in the vandalism of Musket’s campsite and home.
Musket started off the match with that energy against Tokyo Zombie, getting him in a rear waistlock and transitioning to a “dangerous” backdrop driver that caused Zombie to roll under the ropes to the outside! From the opening minutes the fans were on their feet and looking on as the wild country man beckoned GRIM to get a piece of the action as he tagged in Jun Vegas.
Vegas and GRIM would slow the action down just a bit with some technical wrestling, GRIM making a special point to work over the arm of Jun Vegas. But Vegas would battle back, hitting chops to the chest, running GRIM against the ropes and tossing him over his head for a Mountain Bomb and cover for only a two-count. Vegas would try to lock in a full nelson but GRIM slithered away, went for a kneebar, but got up early to tag in Zombie!
A refreshed Tokyo Zombie pummeled Vegas with strikes and kept him isolated from Musket for quite sometime, allowing GRIM and he to repeatedly hit team-oriented strikes like double roundhouse kicks to the chest and shoulderblades area and double suplexes! As Zombie set him up for a Russian leg sweep, Vegas would reverse it with a Saito suplex and begin to make the crawl over to Musket… only for GRIM to pull him away before being berated by the referee!
Zombie would ground Vegas in a camel clutch, but somehow Vegas would get to the ropes to break the hold. Let’s take you to the action starting there:
The outside of the arena is flooded with a crowd. These are the individuals who were coming across town from the Enatsu Special Tournament. But the arena is full and many of their seats already auctioned off earlier in the night. Always one to try to make lemonade out of lemons, MAX-J has set up large video-screens outside that show a feed into the arena. This evening, hundreds if not thousands stand huddled in their coats and will watch tonight’s matchup.
We are taken into the arena, bubbling with anticipation. The arena is stacked to the brim. Demon Brigade fans are on their feet, most in their own section but the all-black shirts are smattered throughout the crowd. Although a smaller contingent, the MOUNTAIN Bros who support Nakama make up for their numbers with their rowdiness. As we waited for the match to begin, a group of Bros could be seen trying to get some crowd-surfing action going on, an act for which security personnel gave them a warning.
The wrestlers from the back also had emerged to witness the main event. As always, the MAX Dojo students were at ringside in orange MAX-J t-shirts and black shorts to help with the ring duties. But, as is traditional, the participants from the night’s show also came out.
The opponents in the tag team title match remained on opposite sides of the arena, with the disappointed but composed duo Musket and Vegas sitting in a fan-friendly section while GRIM and Zombie sat directly at ringside with the tag titles over their shoulders. GRIM had a bucket of chicken and reportedly dumped a dead gecko into it and began snacking.
Daichi Kusumoto donned a MAX-J t-shirt and he eventually joined Musket and Vegas, as did Frank Dylan James. Of course, immediately the people scattered behind the impossibly tall FDJ made the move to change seats.
Newcomer Kota X Shoju, recently signed just over a week ago, greeted the fans for the first time, receiving applause as the camera turned on him and he gave a wave to the fans before sitting down. Go Gensai donned an impeccable white suit and sunglasses, appearing quite serious as he awaited the match to begin. Masanori Kawada and Jacob Hammerstein could also be found, posing for pictures with the fans.
TIM FLOSS:
Well everyone, we’re at the last match of PRO-WRESTLING TOUKON Volume 1 and are nearing the end of our ATTACK OF THE CASTLE! Tour. But we have all gathered out here for the MAX Heavyweight Championship. There’s not an empty seat in the house, especially now that Chikashi Enatsu’s previously unscheduled event has ended. And indeed, the backstage is empty as the fighters are out in full force as well. So let’s talk about the title: It’s been over four months, can you believe it? Four months since we’ve seen the heavyweight title defended since Zenki defeated Ben Chrenshaw and we are rip-roaring ready to go down here.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Timmy, the stage is set. Look, we know that wherever Zenki goes a crowd tends to follow. But Nakama on this tour has picked up win after win. He defeated Alexander Irvine and followed that up by taking revenge against Matt Pulver, his rival from the Pyramid Grappling League. Nakama earned his way here – to the main event, to the biggest stage – through blood, sweat, and hard work. And let me tell you something, Timmy… opportunities like this don’t come around every day. They’re not handed out like candy. You’ve got to make them count!
TIM FLOSS:
Now, Al, we’ve got two very different fighters here in tonight’s matchup. Will it be Zenki’s speed and agility versus Nakama’s size and strength? What are you looking for tonight?
ALBERT MORDECAI:
When it comes to Zenki, there is not a stronger cruiserweight fighter in the land. He’s stronger than most heavyweights and so when you combine that with his quickness and intelligence, you can see why he’s the champ. But the Demon Lord hasn’t fought anyone like “Mountain” Shinjiro. Nearly six and a half feet tall, 280lb. That’s gonna limit Zenki’s moveset right there, which is going to make him easier to scout. The “Mountain” might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, so anything he can do to better predict the attacks of the often unorthodox and wily Zenki will help him tonight!
The lights…
dim.
TIM FLOSS:
Here we go!
From behind the curtain, “Mountain” Shinjiro Nakama emerges with a black towel draped over his beach blond hair as “The Final” by Dir En Grey hits the speakers. In the black tights, kneepads and boots, he wears a black “XPRESS FIGHTING SYSTEMS” shirt over his titanic torso. He walks slowly down the ramp as his manager Arnold Cunningham attempts to get the crowd fired up. At ringside, as Nakama steps into the ring, Cunningham has some words for the Demon Brigade zealots as he points to his waist that the championship will be going home with him. Inside the ring, Nakama stands in his corner.
TIM FLOSS:
“Mountain” Shinjiro looks focused, Al.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That’s one trait he does not lack, my friend. Look at those eyes – the eyes of a killer!
Hironobu Kageyama’s hit screams through the PA system as the Demon Lord himself steps out from behind the curtain. The cameras flash as he stretches out his arms and poses for the crowd, the MAX Heavyweight Championship firmly fastened around his waist. As he stalks down the aisle, the ringside fans throw cherry blossoms to honor his arrival. Once at ringside, he steps over to the zealot section, who clapped and cheer and bow down to the master. He exchanges some words of encouragement with GRIM and Tokyo Zombie before making his way into the ring, climbing the turnbuckle and posing once again and tossing his cape and entrance armor down to the ringside attendants. He drops down to the canvas and his gaze meets the unmoving, stone gaze of Nakama.
Jun Vegas in the white trunks with the black elbow pads and brown boots lies face first on the ground. He is surrounded by the pony-tailed GRIM in the black-and-blue singlet along with Tokyo Zombie in the white gi pants and sutra tattooed upper body. The camera pans to the corner where Musket in the brown corduroy pants and faded red long-sleeve t-shirt and big chestnut beard smacks the top turnbuckle and looks on.
TIM FLOSS:
Well, folks, it’s been about seven minutes now since Vegas entered the ring and he is looking dog tired!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
You said it. The teamwork of the Demon Brigade is unparalleled!
The referee is pushing GRIM back towards his corner while Zombie picks up Vegas for a scoop slam and puts him back down to the mat. He then goes for a leg drop that lands across Vegas’ throat ~ and locks on a brain claw ~ the Vise of Virtue!! Vegas is screaming in pain and trying to get up from the mat, but Zombie is pushing his head down to keep him steady and unable to move!
TIM FLOSS:
This is a new twist to the Vise of Virtue!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
A smart new twist! Using the mat to pin the opponent’s head to the canvas is smart, but it takes an incredible amount of strength to keep it up.
Almost as if on cue, Vegas starts to fight up as he is propped up on his elbows. He soon gets to a knee… and then he’s standing and ~ GUH punch to Zombie’s chin! The hold is broken as
Zombie stumbles back into his corner and is tagged in by GRIM. Vegas runs back and takes a leap! He tags in Musket! Big Ole Country is in!
TIM FLOSS:
Here we go!
Musket hits a diving shoulder block that puts GRIM on his butt! Zombie flies in with a roundhouse kick ~ Musket ducks ~ BURNING LARIAT annihilates Zombie! The crazy country man is on fire as he is waiting on GRIM to get up to his feet… LARIATOOOOO ~ WAIT! GRIM ducks it and goes for a spinning roundhouse kick ~ Musket gets a block up and picks him up for an inverted atomic drop ~ it connects ~ BUT GRIM SPRAYS BLACK MIST IN MUSKET’S FACE! Musket is down!
TIM FLOSS:
The mist! The damn poison mist! Where’s the ref?!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
He was looking over at Tokyo Zombie on the outside! He was making sure he was still okay on the outside!
TIM FLOSS:
Dammit! GRIM timed this perfectly!
The referee looks strangely at GRIM and points to Musket’s black mist-covered face. GRIM raises his hands and relates how he was on the receiving end of inverted atomic drop from Musket and maybe he should be disqualified. GRIM picks up Musket and gets him in a scoop-slam like position and then transitions… TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER!!! GRIM hooks the leg for the pin!
1…
2…
3!!!!!!
The bell sounds!
TIM FLOSS:
I can’t believe this! Dammit!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Well, maybe it is Musket’s fault. I mean, the inverted atomic drop should be a banned move…
TIM FLOSS:
You just shut up!
GRIM and Tokyo Zombie receive the tag titles from the ringside attendants and each of them hold three fingers on each hand, indicating they have now set the record for defenses with the World Tag Team titles. While they congratulate each other, Jun Vegas put his arm around Musket’s shoulders to console him on the loss ~ but the Mountain Man storms out and attacks GRIM! He’s laying a beatdown and the two men have to be separated by security!
TIM FLOSS:
It’s mayhem in there!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That hillbilly’s gone crazy, Timmy!
TIM FLOSS:
That’s justice as far as I’m concerned! GRIM has got it coming!

VAJURA ON!
VAJURA ON!
VAJURA ON!
TIM FLOSS:
The tension in that ring, Al.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
I know, Timmy. Let’s get to the intro’s and get things started!
The Japanese PA announcer stands alongside the English-language announcer, Burton Fask, who speaks after his counterpart.
BURTON FASK – PA ANNOUNCER:
Ladies and gentlemen, we now begin the proceedings for the MAX Heavyweight Championship. May the both of you have strength and courage for the journey ahead.
He pauses.
BURTON FASK – PA ANNOUNCER:
Introducing the challenger… standing at 6’4” and weighing in at 280lb… represented by Xpress Fighting Systems… he is “MOUNTAIN” SHINJIRO NAKAMA!
Nakama remains motionless, his steely gaze fixed on his opponent.
BURTON FASK – PA ANNOUNCER:
And introducing the MAX Heavyweight Champion… standing at 5’10” and 215lb… he is the leader of the Demon Brigade… DEMON LORD ZENKI!
Zenki raises a fist in the air as he steps forward.
TIM FLOSS:
Both guys are revved up, Al. Just look at their intensity.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Let’s go!
The referee brings the two men to the center of the ring. The height-and-weight difference is readily apparent as Nakama with the black towel shrouding his head peers down menacingly upon the champion. The referee separates the two… Nakama throws the towel off his head… Zenki takes a fighting stance…
And the bell sounds!
TIM FLOSS:
This is it!
Zenki quickly encircles as Nakama, who takes on a more stoic stance as the two close in. Nakama goes for a collar-and-elbow but Zenki ducks it and locks on a rear waist lock. Nakama reaches behind him with a meaty paw to snatch Zenki by one of the horns attached to his mask and starts to pull! Zenki breaks the hold and sends a forearm shiver into Nakama’s back which does not elicit much of a reaction from the Mountain.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
You know, I’d be curious to see just who is under that mask, wouldn’t you Timmy?
TIM FLOSS:
Some things just ought to remain a mystery, Al.
Zenki readjusts his mask and gets back in a crouched stance. He wants to shoot in, but Nakama’s legs are live with energy and he doesn’t want to risk eating a blow. Instead, he goes out and stands on the apron. The fans are a bit perplexed and the referee is yelling for him to get back in the ring. Nakama puts his hands on his hips.
TIM FLOSS:
Just what the hell is Zenki doing?
Zenki begins clapping his hands and the Demon Brigade zealots follow suit. The applause echoes throughout the arena Zenki raises his arms to pump them up. Nakama becomes enraged and charges forward ~ and Zenki drops from the apron and catches the Mountain’s foot and gives it a tug! The Mountain falls down to the mat and Zenki pulls him to the outside, hitting the outside mat with a thud as he begins leveling him with stomps!
TIM FLOSS:
He tricked him!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That’s the cunning of the Demon Lord, Timmy. He knows he has the fans on his side and he used them to help him irritate Nakama so he’d lose his cool. That gave Zenki all the opportunity he needed.
Down on the floor, as the referee counts both fighters, Zenki has Shinjiro flat on his face and delivers stiff elbow drops into his back.

10…
11…
As Nakama gets up to his hands-and-knees, Zenki rolls under the bottom rope back in the ring and stands in a crouch. Nakama reaches a hand on the bottom rope and Zenki kicks at it as Nakama pulls his hand away!
12…
Nakama moves around the ring and tries to get up again but Zenki kicks at him again.
13…
14…
15…
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Zenki’s got a strategy, Timmy! He’s trying to win this match in the opening moments!
Nakama tries to get one knee on the apron, but Zenki is kicking at him through the ropes and once again knocks him away!
16…
17…
18…
Nakama backs up… and so does Zenki...
19…
And throws himself under the bottom rope! Zenki hits him with a basement dropkick on the side of the head and somewhat blunting his momentum ~ but Nakama remains in the ring, even though he is down! Zenki is leveling him with soccer kicks and stomps as soon as he gets in the ring.
TIM FLOSS:
Unusual moments here in the opening of this match.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Zenki thought he could keep Nakama from getting back in the ring. But Nakama realized that if he rushed in with full force, there was no way Zenki, at his size, could keep him out. Unfortunately for Nakama, his skull had to pay the price.
We see GRIM and Tokyo Zombie in the Demon Brigade section standing in applause at the tactics of their leader. Meanwhile in the ring, Zenki drops down and locks on a Fujiwara armbar, trying to keep Nakama face-first. But Nakama gets a foot on the ropes. Instead of hanging onto the hold, Zenki jumps up quickly to keep up his kicking-and-stomping attack, but Nakama roars up and grabs Zenki by the throat! The rage on Nakama’s face is terrifying and Zenki has nowhere to go as Nakama lifts him up and throws him into the corner and begins pummeling the champ with punishing knee strikes into the ribcage! Zenki groans with each strike and seems to get wedged deeper and deeper into the turnbuckle before he falls through the ropes on the apron and Nakama pushes him off with a foot!
TIM FLOSS:
Well that happened fast!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
That’s exactly what Zenki was afraid of! That he’d get caught.
Nakama is standing in the ring taunting Zenki as he gets up to his feet. Zenki reaches out for the bottom rope but he knows his own strategy is being used against him. The champ breaks out into a run and Nakama is running along the ropes, trying to keep up, but Zenki eventually gets a bit ahead of him and is able to roll inside. Nakama throws a soccer kick into a rolled-up, turtled Zenki that echoes throughout the arena.
With Zenki in a defensive position, Nakama snatches him again by the mask and throws him into a corner. He goes for a knife-edged chop! Zenki ducks it, jumps onto the middle rope, and hits a springboard enzuigiri that smacks against the back of Nakama’s head, stunning the big man as Zenki runs against the ropes, rebounds, and hits a jumping palm strike that claps against the chin of “Mountain” Shinjiro that forces him to lounge against the ropes!
TIM FLOSS:
Zenki’s on a roll, Al!
Zenki rushes forward with another palm-strike, but Nakama ducks and throws him over his head with a back body drop over the ropes ~ but Zenki somehow lands on the apron and uses the top rope to keep himself from going to the outside! He launches himself into the ring with a spinning heel kick that catches Nakama just as he’s turning around, backing up the big man into the center of the ring. Zenki springboards once again from the middle-rope and goes for the hurricanrana ~ it connects! ~ oh wait, Nakama is still up and he has Zenki in a powerbomb position… Zenki is throwing closed fists into Nakama’s face, the big man eats them again and again and… POWERBOMBS ZENKI INTO THE MAT! Zenki is sprawled out as Nakama gets the pin.
1…
2…
3-NO! Zenki kicks out.
TIM FLOSS:
My gawd, Al! That was hellacious! The ring is still quivering from the force of Nakama’s powerbomb!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Against Nakama, Zenki won’t be able to absorb many more of those!
In the crowd, Daichi Kusumoto and Frank Dylan James both simultaneously wince after having watched the powerbomb. In the ring, Nakama sits up Zenki and wrenches a rear chin lock, as Zenki somehow gets his chin tucked in to prevent the sleeper hold. Zenki manages to get up to his feet and throws elbows into the gut of Nakama ~ but Nakama transitions into a standing headlock as Zenki growls. Nakama has the headlock wrenched in tight and Zenki has nowhere to go.
So…
he…
… starts pulling down the back of Nakama’s trunks!
TIM FLOSS:
Avert your eyes! Avert your eyes!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
PG-13! PG-13!
Nakama reflexively breaks the hold to grab the top of his trunks before anything unsightly can be exposed and Zenki grabs Nakama by a foot to immobilize him. Zenki looks ready to load up for a Dragon Screw ~ but he eats a HEAVY enzuigiri from Shinjiro! Zenki looks KO’d on his feet as Nakama rushes him and goes for a KNEE STRIKE ~ IT CONNECTS! Zenki is down and Nakama hooks the leg!
1…
2…
3-NO!!! Zenki gets the shoulder up.
TIM FLOSS:
I thought he was done for!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
The champ has already shown us several times that he is full of surprises, Timmy. What’s one more?!
Nakama tries to get a mount on Zenki, but the Demon Lord blocks him off and – triangle hold! He transitions into a cross armbreaker! Nakama is standing as Zenki is diagonal to the canvas with his face pressed into the mat as he wrenches the hold.
“GIVE UP?”
Nakama roars and shakes his head no. Zenki continues to wrench the arm, pushing his hips forward to hyperextend that elbow. The Mountain shuts his eyes as he winces in extreme pain. Zenki is trying to take the hold down to the mat while Nakama is trying to remain standing so he can break free.
Nakama struggles…
… struggles…
… Zenki wrenches the hold…
… Nakama roars and starts dragging Zenki across the ring! The sweaty mane of Zenki is flat against the mat and finally Nakama gets his hand on the middle rope and the ref forces Zenki to break it off!
TIM FLOSS:
My gawd! Just look at the strength of “Mountain” Shinjiro! He’s dragging him around the ring like a child!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
He’s a big man! A big man!
Nakama takes no time to favor his ailing limb and tries to snatch up Zenki before he can get to his feet. Nakama succeeds and locks in the rear waist lock, setting up for the German suplex! Zenki is kicking and squirming like mad, doing everything he can to break the hold – and Nakama let’s go, favoring his elbow! Zenki runs against the ropes and comes back ~ lariat from Nakama ~ swing and a miss! Zenki rebounds nails a basement dropkick that puts Nakama on a single knee. Zenki jumps up and ~ SHINING WIZARD! He covers!
1…
2…
3-NO! Nakama kicks out!
TIM FLOSS:
Zenki almost had him with that one.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
He’s going to have to use his legs and other strikes to take out Nakama! Nakama’s too big to lift and just too tough to ever give up!
Zenki is standing up on his feet and he’s raising his arms to get the fans into it. He has Nakama on a knee and hits a knee into his gut. He’s got him doubled over… he locks in the gutwrench!
TIM FLOSS:
There’s no way! There’s no way! There’s no way!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
I think I spoke too soon, Timmy!
Zenki goes for the lift…
… he’s straining…
… straining…
… Nakama’s feet start to leave the ground…
… but it’s too much! Zenki has to drop him to the mat as he clutches the small of his back.
ALBERT MORDECAI:
See, Timmy, I was right all along?
Zenki struggles to evaluate the situation as he launches a few perfunctory roundhouse kicks into the side of Nakama who is starting to get to his feet… Zenki waits for a bit and sets him up ~ roundhouse kick to the head! ~ But Nakama just stares at him! He’s either unphased or doesn’t realize he’s unconscious as he smacks Zenki upside the head with a palm strike! He runs ~ KNEE STRIKE! ~ WAIT! Zenki crossed his arms for a block, his forearms absorbing the blow as he is knocked into the ropes. Nakama rushes forward for a lariat, but Zenki ducks and jumps on his back ~ REAR NAKED CHOKE!
TIM FLOSS:
Zenki has got the hold! He’s strangling the life out of Nakama!
Go Gensai in the crowd wears something of a smirk as he watches the chokehold quickly choke the life out of the Mountain, who quickly becomes wobbly as Zenki is riding on his back like a demonic koala. Nakama soon becomes still and the referee approaches them. Zenki is yelling at the ref, and though we’re not sure what he’s saying, it’s obvious he wants the ref to call the match. The ref visually inspects Nakama, with his closed eyes, and lifts him up by the wrist…
… The arm falls.
1.
… He lifts up the wrist once again…
… it falls.
2.
… He lifts up the wrist again and…
… Nakama falls before the refree can let go, falling onto his back so that all of his weight crushes Zenki! The champ breaks the hold and is in maddening pain after absorbing all the weight of Nakama, who does appear to be unconscious.
TIM FLOSS:
Al, what the hell happened there?
ALBERT MORDECAI:
An apparently sleepy Nakama fell before the ref could finish the consciousness check, so this match must continue!
TIM FLOSS:
But there was no way that Nakama was going to wake up, right?
ALBERT MORDECAI:
We’ll never know, Timmy!
The fans are smacking the backs of the seats in an effort to rouse the two men to their feet. Zenki is up and is using the ropes to support his weight as he clutches his abdomen. Nakama gets up and is trying to stretch out his elbow but winces each moment. Nakama rushes Zenki with a knee strike but Zenki runs away! Nakama is literally chasing Zenki around the ring! Nakama is hot on his tail when Zenki suddenly pivots and hits Nakama with a rising knee strike! Nakama is pushed back and goes to a knee… Zenki loads up with a SHINING WIZ ~ Nakama jumps up and catches him!
TIM FLOSS:
Nakama just faked out Zenki! He faked him out!
Nakama squeezes Zenki in a bearhug, crushing those already damaged ribs! Zenki is twitching and struggling…
“GIVE UP?”
… Zenki struggles…
“GIVE UP?”
… and he doesn’t reply… because he leans into Nakama’s face and bites the skin atop his eyebrow! Nakama breaks the hold! BUT WAIT! He snatches Zenki in a rear waistlock before he can get away and… HIGH-ANGLE GERMAN SUPLEX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Zenki is folded over! Nakama has the bridge intact!
1…
2…
3!!!!!!!!!
WAIT!!!!! ZENKI twists his shoulder up at the last, last, last possible moment!
TIM FLOSS:
MY GAWD! MY GAWD! MY GAWD!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
Welp, I’m done here. I don’t know what more I can say! I don’t know what more I can say!
Ringside, the Demon Brigade section breathes a collective sigh of relief. The entirety of the audience, both the fans and the wrestlers seated near ringside, are on their feet. Jacob Hammerstein can be seen with his hands on his hips, muttering, “He always does this…” while Mike Musket is rooting and calling out for Zenki to keep going. Kota X Shoju is stoic as he watches, absorbing and collecting intelligence in an analytic manner.
Nakama is exhausted and slowly renders himself upright. Zenki is on hands and knees and seemingly has nothing left. An exhausted Nakama languidly runs at Zenki for a KNEE STRIKE ~ but Zenki rolls out of the way and jumps up to his feet ~ he backflips for a Pele-style bicycle kick that catches Nakama on the chin! Nakama is wobbly and Zenki kicks him in the gut… and locks on a front chancery…
TIM FLOSS:
Al, we’ve seen this movie before, haven’t we? Zenki doesn’t have the…
Zenki with his other hand grips Nakama’s trunks and he roars just before he lifts and… he’s got Nakama vertical! And…
BRAINBUSTAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nakama is driven like a stake into the ground with the crown of his head on the receiving end! He’s out cold! Zenki drapes an arm across the shoulders of the big man!
1…
2…
3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The bell rings! Health and wellness personal rush under the ropes to check on the fighters.
TIM FLOSS:
I can’t believe what I just saw! He lifted him up!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
And with those injured ribs! It’s unfathomable!
GRIM and Tokyo Zombie help their leader up to his feet, throwing the MAX Heavyweight Championship over his shoulder. Arnold Cunningham is with Shinjiro Nakama, who has been fitted with a brace to immobilize his neck. Both men are surrounded by trainers who cover them with icepacks.
TIM FLOSS:
Well, we waited four months but this grueling battle was worth it!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
You’re damn right, Timmy. These two warriors deserve an encore as far as I’m concerned. No one has tested Zenki quite like Shinjiro did here tonight. We haven’t seen the last of these two fighting for the top prize, I tell you.
Almost as if on cue, Nakama’s gaze darts over to Zenki. Both men are covered by medical staff and their respective support, but we can see Nakama point to him and mouth what, in any language, means, “We’ll meet again”. And Demon Lord Zenki, the MAX Heavyweight Champion, nods in such a manner that seems to say, “Bring it on”.
TIM FLOSS:
Well, that’s all we have for you tonight everyone. Our next event is scheduled for 10/24, but given the situation between our higher-ups, it’s hard to be sure what will happen around here!
ALBERT MORDECAI:
All we can promise is that it’ll be Timmy and me seeing you through! Have a good night folks!
