The scene opens with a loud, yet gorgeous assault on the senses. Various lights, sounds and hustle and bustle on a very rowdy Sunday night near the Dotonbori Canal. Walking on the edge of the water happens to be ZENKI's next challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship…
“Outlaw” Jun Vegas.
Dressed to the got-damn nines in a black pinstriped suit, with The Eye Candy - Yuu and Yuki Mizuka - behind him, Jun Vegas immerses himself in the busy atmosphere and appears elated for this next tour, greeting his fellow Osakans.
“Drink it in, ladies! Osaka's favorite son has returned!”
He smirks as the view follows his every step.
“ZENKI… when I fought your croney, GRIM, I was simply avenging a wrong. But when that mist-spewing menace tried to choke me out and threw a poisoned toad at me… That was all I could stand. No More Mr. Nice Eccentric Coat-Wearing Fighter Man! I decked Zombie and I decked GRIM with this right hand of mine… and there you were.”
He balls up his fist, visibly recalling the moment.
“Had I any idea that punching all your lights out would get me this shot - in my own hometown no less - I would've done it sooner!”
Excited at both the opportunity and the challenge, Jun continues his jaunt by the canal, attracting a few more people as he continues.
“Whether GM Sano did this out of the kindness of his heart, or for super secret shady agenda… don't care. I'm focused on the now, baby!”
“Almost a decade of my life spent preparing for this. Every cut, every bruise, every mark and every last scar on my damn back. Every barbed wire, every punch, every table I've been tossed through and every light tube chunk pulled out of this fine backside… it all meant something to get here, in front of the people of Osaka!”
He twirls a finger around his crowd, attracting more people with each word, recognizing their hometown boy.
“ZENKI, you no doubt have the skill to be champion for MAX-J. You proved it beating Ben Chrenshaw and again against Nakama… but as a man, you are EVERYTHING wrong with what I see in this company. And don't think the Q-Tip is in too deep. You heard me. I called you a MAN. And to me, ZENKI, you're barely that.”
He now leans over the railing of the canal, drawing more of an audience.
“You aren't a demon… you're just a man using nationalism and parlor tricks to hide behind your own agenda. You say you and you’re here for the betterment of Japan, but you're spewing your hate-filled messages against gaijin and American-born wrestlers like me, making yourselves out to be no better than the people you incorrectly brand as savages. You have your cheering section of zealots at every show practically bathing in the Demon Brigade Kool-Aid. And seeing that title wrapped up in the middle of all that? It tarnishes the title with each day you have it.
That title deserves better.
It deserves to bring people together, not divide them.”
By now, a big crowd of fans gather as the passion in his voice grows.
“You'll have your zealots and the rest of the Demon Brigade when we fight ovember 3rd. But you'll also have ACES WILD! and that crazy badass, FDJ, to contend with. We've beaten Demon Brigade three-on-three on the last tour and I know we can do it again!
You'll still have the Brigade and the Zealots on 11/15, but I… I will have MY town, MY friends and MY family drowning out your noise! Cheering for me! Cheering for change! Cheering on Lady Luck to guide Your Ace of Aces to take the World Heavyweight Championship!”
The crowd joins in and roars with approval at his words! Yuu and Yuki hand Jun a new coat and new cowboy hat… both in the color of gold! He fits them on quickly until they are to his liking.
“I will wear these colors proudly during this tour to show what I'm fighting for! ZENKI, the Osaka streets will be lined with gold when I take that title to unite ALL wrestling fans alike! It will no longer cater to a cult or a boardroom. It'll be me and Lady Luck using its glow to shine down on EVERYONE!”
Vegas raises a fist.
“Say it loud and say it proud, Osaka…”
The massive crowd joins in.
“BET ON VEGAS!”
