(I know I missed DL, but fuck it, I’m still posting something!)
GRIM sat in his temple surrounded by his followers. He heard them murmuring amongst themselves. There was doubt in their voices, doubt of his power, doubt that he still found favor with Jorogumo. It was hi recent loss and shaming at the hands of Jun Vegas had turned them. He had promised that he would defeat the fool, who had betrayed his culture to embrace the sins of the Western World. Instead though, it was he who had been humbled, first by a seizure no less, than by Vegas’s mighty GUH Punch. Compared to that, GRIM throwing a toad with little affect seemed foolish in comparison.
The dark wizard stared out in amongst the masses. Jimmy Winner was gone, he had disappeared like a thief in the night, unlikely to be seen again for a long time. GRIM wondered exactly why he had ever allowed the cursed “gaijin” amongst his flock. He had the potential to be a great vessel for Jorogumo’s wrath, but it was clear now he had never truly been a believer and fled like the spineless worm many of the believers had thought him to be. Should GRIM survive what was to come he would track the worm down one day and make him suffer for his betrayal.
Speaking of possibly betrayal, Grim looked to a darkened corned where Jin Hirai and the Great Goryō huddled with a few other followers. GRIM could sense their plotting against him all the way from his throne. Not that he blamed either of them. GRIM had broken Hirai and turned bent him to his will, whereas Goryō had been an instrument of Jorogumo long before the Spider Woman had found the dark wizard. Both had good reason to stab him in the back, if it should come to that. If GRIM failed, as many were beginning to wonder if he would, someone else would have to step up to lead this flock and carry Jorogumo’s plots forward. If that meant breaking his body and handing him over to their dark mistress, all the better.
Amongst all those in attendance only one looked at him with still confidence in her eyes, Sentai. Since this journey began Jorogumo’s high priestess’s faith in him had been unwavering. Where others would have balked at his ideas, she had always been his loudest supporter and advocate. It was for her he directed his words.
“My children, I know many of you are finding your faith in Jorogumo flailing.”
“It’s not Jorogumo we doubt,” a man said, standing up, “It’s you, False One!”
A smile wickedly crossed GRIM face. He stepped forward and before the man could escape, grabbed him by the throat. He stared the now frightened man in the eye as he pried his mouth open with his free hand. GRIM opened his maw and a spider climbed out and leaped into the man’s mouth and went down his throat. The dark wizard released him and the man fell to the ground, thrashing out of control. As if my magic, Goryō and Jin were at GRIM’s side and dragging the man away as his face turned purple and began to bloat.
“Do I need to show you more,” GRIM roared, “Do I need to prove just how powerful I truly am? I tell you the truth, Jorogumo still favors me and I will prove it tonight when I stand with Zenki and Tokyo Zombie when we clash with Mike Musket, that fool Jun Vegas and Frank Dylan James! They will taste Jorogumo’s wrath! Her venom will flow through their veins and rot them from the inside out! As for Shinjiro Nakama, he and James believe that they will do what no one has been able to do, defeat Zombie and I for the World Tag Team Titles. They will fail like everyone else has and will continue to. If you don’t believe my words are true, if you don’t believe that I can do what I say I will, then take a look at that fool over there!”
All eyes turned to the man, Jin and Goryō had dragged away. His whole body was convulsing and without a warning burst into pieces.
“I tell you the truth, my children,” GRIM concluded, “Our enemies will lie at our feet like that by the end of the Three Kingdoms Tour. If not may Jorogumo slay me where I stand!”
Sentai began to cheer and soon the whole room was chanting his name. GRIM was releaved, a whisper from Jin chilled his bones.
“Brave words, Wizard, but if you fail again I will feed you to Jorogumo myself!”
