Sword of Lite Grand Prix

A long-established tournament in the history of Japan, the rights to the tournament were purchased by Pollobucket and MAX-J for 2017 and later acquired by the latter for a period of three years. The 2017 tournament would determine the inaugural MAX Junior Heavyweight Champion.

A single-elimination tournament usually with 16 competitors, it is a long and gruelling road for the fighters. But victory is sweet, as the winner received the ceremonial katana with a blade coated in platinum and a hilt encrusted with diamonds to hold for the entire year when it is returned to the committee. The winner of the tournament receives a shot at the Junior Heavyweight title.
