Well folks, we’ve got a bit of breaking news to pass along. While we have know that BLITZA PACIFICA will be a “gold plated” tour with numerous championships on the line, thus far there has been little word on the challengers. Today, however, we finally got a match reveal.
On 2/21, Frank Dylan James and Go Gensai will attempt their V1 defense of the World Tag Team Championship against “American Monster” Jacob Hammerstein and the world junior heavyweight legend Thunder Mask.
The Japanese press was quick to praise this decision. Jacob Hammerstein is a former World Tag Team Champion and is currently the reigning Heritage Tag Team Champion with partner Eli Buchanan. General Manager Masaaki Sano said he considers Hammerstein one of the top “dual threat” fighters in the world as he has earned high marks a singles competitor and tag specialist.
Thunder Mask, for his part, has been training hard for the upcoming tour. Reporters caught up with him training in a Tokyo gym and we can report that he’s looking sharper than ever, slaying punching bags left and right with ferocious strikes. Upon hearing the news, he accepted the task at hand and said he was looking forward to team up with Hammerstein and he intends on showing the fans that junior heavyweight fighters have a strength that transcends weight class.
