The upset heard round the world…
The wrestling world is in shock after the World Tag Team Championship match on 3/12. Thus far the standout match of the tour, this 45+ minute epic was given a four-star rating by the notoriously stingy analyst Isaiah Van Pelt and saw the Twitterverse light up in response to Alexander Irvine and AJ Knight’s stunning upset of the GHOST ARMY duo, Go Gensai and Frank Dylan James. This is the second four-star rating given to a MAX match by the infamous critic, the other being the ZENKI vs. Tokyo Zombie match on 12/31 at the jointly promoted BLACK LION’S ROAD BOM-BA-YE III.
In a strange twist, it appears that the only two people who are not excited about the victory are the champions themselves. After being released from the hospital due to suffering dehydration, Knight took to twitter to express his ambivalence. While we haven’t heard from his other half – as strange that is to type – Irvine’s representative Francine Shields is quick to capitalize, already throwing out monikers for the duo.
Changes to 3/15 card!
As a result of the win, GM Masaaki “Genki” Sano is clearing the deck on 3/15 by withholding AJ from the All-Mediterranean Tag Team Championship match and substituting none other than “American Monster” Jacob Hammerstein. Despite his teams losing both matches in the early going of the tour, Genki Sano has been impressed with Hammerstein’s performance and especially his teamwork and mentorship. He’ll be teaming with Greek wrestling legend AGAMEMNON as the Demon Brigade’s GRIM and SHACHIMON defend the belts.
We’re also expected to see David Troy – whose injury on Day 1 forced AJ Knight into the World Tag Team title match – back in action, as he has been cleared by doctors and is apparently ready to compete as scheduled on 3/15. This match has major ramifications, as Troy will be teaming his partner and MAX Heavyweight Champion while FDJ will receive a new partner in the form of MAX Dojo standout Hiro Minamoto.
Mushigahara (c) vs. FDJ will take centerstage as they headline the tour-ending SEMPTER INVICTUS event in London on 3/23. These two are no strangers, with these giants having collided in other promotions. A series of tag matches leading up to their epic showdown will ensure that neither fighter will be able to conceal the results of new training or techniques.
Amidst all this, one can never leave out that we have "Tirador" Chris Ravenna's first attempted defense of the MAX Junior Heavyweight Championship against the "Burning Heart" James Edwards, the latter recently winning the recently reoobted Universal Wrestling League's 2019 Coronation Cup. Can the Burning Heart keep his momentum going? Or will the Tirador continue to show why he's taken MAX-J by storm?
Only one way to find out!
