Open Fields Somewhere in Toronto, Canada
12:36 pm
There are five empty bottles stationed everywhere in the open field where each of them kept distance to each other. An M96 Mauser Rifle was on the ground until Chris Ravenna picked it up. He examined the targets on his field of view as he raised his rifle. He measured for accuracy while trying to be firm and stiff as possible. He tried to recall some of the rifling lessons from his friend, Douglas. After that, he lowered his weapon and loaded it with a group of five 6.5x55mm Swedish cartridge. He paused for a while for some deep reflection on his thoughts.
“In BLITZ PACIFICA, I made a great impact as I won three victories out of four matches. I captured the Jr. Heavyweight Champion from the old rival, Eron Hunter, better known as Lynx. It was a great start as a competitor in MAX-Japan. If I recall correctly before the start of EUROPA RUSH, I went up to rank number 7. Just more steps to go and the TOUKON CUP is mine. But when the EUROPA RUSH began, things didn’t go so well.”
(¡Preparen) He brought his rifle in front of his body.
(Apunten) He pointed his weapon to his designated target.
(FEUGO!)
BANG!
He missed a target as he pondered his loss in his tag team match with Hammerstein against GRIM and ZENKI.
BANG!
He caught one bottle as it shattered representing his first victory of his European Leg of the tour. It was when he teamed up with Shinjiro Nakama to fend off against James Edwards and Ryan Henderson.
BANG!
His shot went too far from his target epitomizing the loss against Edwards and his championship belt.
BANG!
Another shot missed representing another loss with Falcon Hamada against Shinjiro Nakama and Toru Ishii.
BANG!
The third shot flew over its target embodying another loss with James Edwards and Umetaro Sakamoto against the Demon Brigade. He remembered that his defeat loss his spot as a ranked fighter.
As Ravenna ran out of ammo in his rifle, he put the weapon down to see his work on his aim. Four out of five bottles left standing. “MINTIS!” Ravenna cussed then threw the rifle down venting his frustration over his performance not only in shooting practice but also in MAX-Japan. He sat on the ground trying to calm down.
“Hey, Chris.”
Ravenna opened his eyes and saw a little girl standing right next to him. “Hey, Lina!” Ravenna then pressed his hand at the top of her little head and rubbed it as a friendly gesture. Angelina* (or Lina as Ravenna shortened it) joined Chris in his journeys when he found her inside the small box truck. Ravenna was hesitant to take her along, but she was so stubborn to come along with him. As the child fixed her hair, she went on asking, “Why are you so mad?”
Ravenna was aware that he was talking to a child, so he mildly answered, “Nothing, it’s just that Chris had a hard day.”
Little Angelina looked at his shooting range then at him. “You upset over that?”
“Something like that…” Ravenna could’ve given her a more detailed answer. It was too deep for her to understand. Angelina then picked the rifle up and gave it to Ravenna. “My sister told me that practice makes perfect.”
“Is that so?” Ravenna cast a smile at her stating that he’s not upset at all. Angelina nodded, “It’s okay to make mistakes. You just try again.”
Ravenna looked at the range with one target gone. Somehow the little girl made a good point. He was busy trying to feel sorry for himself. So he glanced at the little girl, “You hungry? You want something to eat?”
“We ate burgers seconds ago!” Little Lina informed Ravenna as she rubbed her tummy stating how full she was. Ravenna remembered that both of them already had lunch at the local diner a few hours ago. He rubbed her hair once again as she complained, “Stop messing my hair!”
“Okay! Okay!” Ravenna responded and laughed. He then stood up and picked up his rifle. He was about to try again just as the little girl told him. “You better stand back and cover your ears,” he ordered.
The girl bobbed her head and took a few steps backward. She placed both of her hands on both ears as she watched Ravenna in his rifling action. Chris took a deep breath and pondered over the losses he had during that awful tour. Here are some of his thoughts:
“The kid was right. I did have some losses, but it didn’t mean that I’m hopeless. I have to work hard and train harder. I have to make it right this time. Practice makes perfect she said. On MOLECULE Vol. 1, I might face, AJ Knight who currently ranked at #5. On Vol 2, it was Go Gensai, the Pale General, who defeated ZENKI recently. He was tied with GRIM at #3. Now I’m back on the ranked field at #9.”
Ravenna opened his eyes and looked at his range.
“I CAN DO THIS!”
Ravenna then put another set of 6.5x55mm cartridge and prepared his rifle. He raised his weapon to aim.
(FUEGO!)
BANG!
Another shot fired and it hit a targeted bottle. Chris felt redeeming just as his victory over Shigeru Toyama in a Sport Form Match. His win made his rankings go up to #9 spot.
BANG!
A bullet passed near the bottle which made a scratch. A CLOSE SHOT! He remembered when he faced Shinjiro Nakama in Nakama and Ishii vs. Ravenna and Hamada match. He was fierce when he fought “The Mountain”.
BANG!
Another bottle broke due to a gunshot. Ravenna felt that his rifling skills were improving. It gave hope for Chris that his wrestling performance will improve and score a victory.
BANG!
Another shot missed but Ravenna didn’t give up. Just as the child encouraged him, he has to try it again.
BANG!
A fifth and final bullet flew and hit at the side of the bottle. It was a close call to miss, but it managed to land on its target.
Ravenna looked at the overall targets: four bottles out of five were shot. It was an impressive performance, and Ravenna was happy to see his progress on his rifling skills. But what about his training for his upcoming match for MOLECULE Vol.1 and 2? There was a reason behind that practice, accuracy. He was trying his eye to be keen with his target for his dropkicks or big boot attacks.
And Ravenna adopted it when he shifted from rifling into kickboxing. He had no proper training equipment, so he made a make-shift training dummy made out of a long stick and a short one forming a scarecrow. He improvised the head with his focus mitt. While little Angelina was sitting on the grass to watch his train, Chris focused his attention on the target (which is the mitt).
(¡Preparen) He placed his right foot on the back as if he brought his rifle in front of his body during his rifling practice.
(Apunten!) He leaned forward to the target concentrating on his aim. He viewed it as like he pointed his weapon to his designated target.
(FUEGO!)
