The fighters are on their way to the Arabian Gulf to prepare for MAX-J’s two-day event in the middle east, TOUKON ROAD: CHAMPION’S GULF. It looks set up to be a wild and raucous affair.
The “open call” nature of the event, giving a shot at the Heavyweight or Jr. Heavyweight title to potentially any wrestler on the roster, has got the fans and the wrestlers excited. Those who boarded the MAX-J cruise liner, the Toukon Sakura Maru, have interacted with the fans less than usual, on account of training for the possibility that they may be the one selected to compete for the top two prizes in all of MJPW. Who will become the contenders to face down Frank Dylan James and James Edwards?
Of course, there are also several other storylines surrounding the other titles in the company. The World Tag Team Championship will be up for grabs when the odd pairing of Alexander Irvine and AJ Knight will attempt their V1 defense against GRIM and Falcon Hamada of the Demon Brigade. Can AJ and Irvine overcome their rivalry and figure out how to cooperate with one another? Or will the Demon Brigade’s superior teamwork overcome them?
“Mountain” Shinjiro Nakama, the reigning Royal Road Champion and currently #1 ranked fighter in the TOUKON Cup standings, will have to deal with “Tirador” Chris Ravenna standing across from him as he goes for his V3 defense. The former Jr. Heavyweight Champion is looking to get back in the title picture. We have received word that Filipino legend Hercules Cendana, who competed during the BLITZ PACICA and GOLDEN FLEECE events earlier in the tour, will be ringside to cheer on his countryman.
With less than a week ago, the fighters still have time to prepare. But time runs short. We don’t know who will emerge victorious, but we know we’ll be in for a wild ride!
