Once again we join AJ Knight on the plane ride to his next destination, in this case Dubai for the Champion’s Gulf.
“Frank Dylan James, I bet you’re wondering, why should AJ Knight be your next challenger? That’s a good question, but I’ve got a better one: Why shouldn’t I be?”
AJ pulls the tag title belt out .
“After all, remember how I got this? It was you, it was Go Gensai against me and Irvine. It may not have been you that I pinned but last time you were a champion, I was the one who took it from you. As a matter of fact just about every time you and I have fought each other on this tour my hand’s been raised. Sure it’s been tag matches but in all these chances you’ve had not even one time have you beaten me on the Toukon Road.”
AJ leans back stroking the title belt over his shoulder.
“You should be praying I don’t get picked, because we both know I have everything it takes to beat you. If I’ve got the mental fortitude to team with a guy who’s spent the better part of the last year trying to end me, to win the tag titles against two of the meanest nastiest SOBs in the sport, without so much as flinching, what can you do to intimidate me? And yet again I’ll have to do it, taking on the Demon Brigade. You’ll watch me as I run through them, and maybe it’ll give you flashbacks to what you’re in for. Because if I’m willing to put up with my partner, who is the world’s best commercial for birth control, what else am I willing to do to win the big one?”
AJ chuckles putting his title belt down in his lap.
“See, every Max J Heavyweight Champ I’ve fought, I’ve beaten. Musket I’ve beaten every time we’ve shared the ring, I beat Crenshaw in the second match of a gauntlet after I went through David Troy, hell I beat Zenki in less than 10 minutes in the Laurentide Cup. So I’ve got to ask you, what makes you different? That you’re big? You’re strong? You hit hard? That doesn’t phase me.”
AJ leans into the camera a smirk on his face .
“ Like I said, I won this by getting the best of you, and I learned one thing that night: You don’t have what it takes to put me away.”
AJ shakes his head.
“I took your best shot. You grabbed me by the throat, took me from the top turnbuckle, and damn near slammed me through the ring, and it just wasn’t enough. Not only did I get the shoulder off the mat. Not only did I survive, but I came back to win the damn thing. See that’s what fighting spirit is, taking the best an opponent has to offer and walking right through it. That’s what Max Japan was supposed to be built on. So rarely have the heavyweight champions here embodied that though. The underhandedness of Ben Crenshaw, the smoke and mirrors of Zenki it’s not what this title is supposed to be about. And right now I’m knocking at the door of the Toukon cup. A big win here I retain my tag belts, and I win the title from you, and I shoot into the top 3.”
AJ seems to relish at this thought, standing so close to everything.
“So yeah, you’re big, you’re strong, you’re mean as the day is long. You’re going to kick my ass, you’re beat the hell out of me. But I’m going to get right back up, and I’m going to give it right back. If you don’t think I can manage that, watch my match with Nakama, just as big, strong, and mean. I swelled his eye shut, and left with little more than a bloody nose from him. You don’t scare me.”
AJ laughs.
“You better pray Frankie, you better hope to God they choose someone, anyone else. Because I will be the one who will take that belt from you if I’m the chosen one. Keep a close on me saturday night, what I do to the Demon Brigade, watch the fighting spirit. Watch as I eradicate the spirit from the Demon Brigade, and watch what’s in store for you, if Sano decides to give you the death sentence the next day.”
AJ switches the camera off letting his declaration of intent sink in.
