Sheik Spectre was in Tokyo this morning to do some media tours ahead of the 4/27 event at the PBJ Hall. The Saudi born fighter and first ever foreign graduate of the MAX Dojo expressed a bit of disdain at having to do the media tour despite not being booked on the event, but made the most of the Q&A portion of his visit.
When asked if he had any interest in the J1 Summit, Spectre said he would love the opportunity but may not be prepared for it - saying he'd need to bulk up a bit in order to deal with heavyweight opponents night in and night out. He joked that if the J1 was a deathmatch tournament, he'd be able to cut his opponents down to size easily! This prompted a question about deathmatches, which Spectre admitted he'd like to see more of in MAX. He called the use of "Deathmatch" in 4/27's main event title bout between Hammerstein and GRIM a farce, because there's nothing "deathmatch" about fighters surrounding the ring. "GIVE THEM WEAPONS!" he shouted before laughing. Spectre closed out the questions by telling a reporter that he's ready to get into a rhythm in MAX Japan and wants to compete for the Jr. Heavyweight title before the year's end.
