PERSONALITY -

WALKOUT ATTIRE -
A long, rhinestoned and embroidered sleeveless rawhide duster, and a similarly stylized cowboy hat. He also carries with him a bullwhip, which he swings around, cracks, and generally threatens fans, camera operators, and other employees with.
WALKOUT THEME -
'China Grove' by The Doobie Brothers
BRIEF HISTORY -
Born and raised in Saitama, young c was among the first students in the inaugural graduating class at semi-retired Gentaro Endo’s wrestling school, +ULTRA Dojo. Though undersized, he showed a great deal of promise and athleticism in training, and in an environment that was beginning to better appreciate the flashy high-flying of junior heavyweights, the wrestling world was Kanagawa’s oyster in the early 2000s. However, a young lion is as a young lion does, and Kanagawa spent most of his first year wrestling getting his ass handed to him for little pay and even less spotlight. Finally, during a high-octane juniors showcase, he had a chance to prove his worth to the Japanese scene… but crashed and burned on a botched dive to the outside, nearly ending his career then and there.
Kanagawa’s young star nearly flickered out in the following year, with less bookings coming in after a long recovery period. Pulling some strings with some promoters in the United States, it was Gentaro Endo who sent Kanagawa on an excursion to Texas, to gain experience and further hone his craft in a new environment.
Heihachirō Kanagawa never returned.
From his ashes, Heartbreak Kanagawa rose. Having fallen in love with the Lone Star State, and the style of wrestling it cradled, Kanagawa has spent the last fifteen years of his career working in the American Southwest, making towns all the way to the Gulf of Mexico on an independent level, while sustaining himself as a cattle rancher on the side, in his adopted hometown of Amarillo.
What brings him back to Japan, and Max-J? Other than gold and glory, Heartbreak thinks it’s high time for Japanese wrestling to get educated the way he was, when he was left in America with only a prayer and his boots. He’s fixing to bring Texas rasslin’ to the land of Strong Style.
PREVIOUS INJURIES -
SPORTSMANSHIP -
Heartbreak is as unsportsmanlike as they come, and the only time he’s ever going to shake hands is if he hacks a big wad of spit into his palm. At the drop of a hat, he will play dirty. His goal is to outgrapple his opponents; barring that, mitigating the referee as much as possible to cheat his way to victory.
FIGHTING STYLE -
Heartbreak considers himself an old school southern grappler, and has staked his claim on the old adage of ‘work smarter, not harder’. He has eschewed the fast-paced acrobatics of his junior heavyweight days for rest holds, hard hits, and working over the soft spots. His age and his move set don’t mean he’s slow, however; if you’re not careful he’ll stomp you down and twist you into submission, or drill your head through the ring.

Calf Branding

PERSONALITY -
Heartbreak is a West Texas Redneck, through and through… even if he’s not from Texas, or the United States to begin with. He likes to hunt, he likes to fish, his beer cold and his women firm-feelin. He’s a cattle rancher, for crying out loud! Heartbreak considers himself more Texan than Japanese, and has embraced his adopted culture in every way he can think of. This, along with an ego the size of an oil field and a complex or two about his face and hair, gives Heartbreak the kind of attitude only a distant, estranged stepfather could tolerate.
He’s cocky, arrogant, vain and overconfident, but he knows how to play to his strengths and against a crowd’s. If he can’t outgun his way out of a fight, he’ll outrun it. He doesn’t believe in ‘honor’ or ‘strong style’ like this latest crop of plucky Japanese wrestlers do; he’d rather take the low road than the King’s Road any day.
