J1 Summit - Block B
Hiro Masaki [0] vs. Kono Masaki [0]
1 Fall - 30 Minute Time Limit
Jun Takano informed us that the Masaki brothers match would not be happening due to an injury to Hiro. He assured us that Hiro was hoping to be back in top form next tour, but stated that Kono simply did not want to hold a forfeit victory over his brother.
J1 Summit - Block A
Billy Danielson [2] vs. Romeo Jackson [0]
1 Fall - 30 Minute Time Limit
To call this a contest would be silly, Billy Danielson came out looking to prove a point and did so in dramatic fashion. He hoisted the 6'3" / 224lbs Romeo Jackson up with ease, submitting him with the torture rack in just two minutes and thirty one seconds.
Bonus Match
Falcon Hamada & SHACHIMON vs. Balloon Yamazaki & Earth Warrior
1 Fall - 15 Minute Time Limit
Because of the earlier forfeit, a match was added in its place as the Demon Brigade battled Earth, Wind and Fire. Hamada looked rejuvenated, having a decent rest from his recent singles run against James Edwards and Hammerstein. He schooled Earth Warrior in the opening minutes of the match, but almost got caught with a Reuse roll! It was a 2.9 though and Hamada quickly tagged out, bringing in the large SHACHIMON. Warrior obliged the fan calls and tagged in Balloon Yamazaki and the two husky men squared off in the centre of the ring before attacking each other! Both men sumo'd each other, but came to a stalemate. They went at it again with the lighter, but taller SHACHIMON bowling Yamazaki over after a maemitsu grip. SHACHIMON celebrated the impressive feat but missed Yamazaki tagging Warrior back in. The environmentalist scaled the top rope and caught the Master of the Dark Arts as he turned around with a missile dropkick. SHACHIMON staggered into the corner, but remained on his feet. Warrior got back up, went to the opposite corner and charged...
BUT WAS BOWLED OVER HALF WAY!
With Warrior down and Yamazaki still recovering, SHACHIMON set his sights on the top rope. Hamada got into the ring to help him balance on the top, then took off to try and defend against Yamazaki... as SHACHIMON moonsaulted onto Warrior! The impressive show of athleticism meant the three was academic!
J1 Summit - Block B
Chris Ravenna [4] vs. AJ Knight [4]
1 Fall - 30 Minute Time Limit
The World's Jr. Heavyweight Champion Chris Ravenna and former World's Heavyweight Champion AJ Knight had a terrific bout. It was not a technical display or hard-hitting war, but rather a tactical battle between two fighters who aren't opposed to bending the rules. There were several instances where each man dragged his opponent across the top rope, or the mat which led to a lot of red irritation on each man's face. At one point, late in the match - AJ Knight was on the apron and Ravenna tried to use a spear to send him into the guardrail... but AJ kneed him in the face and ended up DDT'ing him onto the apron while his legs were hung up in the ropes. AJ scurried back inside, but Ravenna got some much needed time to recuperate as his legs were caught up in the ropes and he had to be freed by referee Rysuke Ando before the 20 count on the floor could begin. Ravenna dragged himself back in at 18 and AJ tried to get back to work, but it was clear the Jr. Champion took more time than he needed because he fired back with a collection of strikes. AJ tried for a rolling elbow, but it missed and Ravenna scored with a superkick. AJ fell to a knee, suckering Ravenna in and punched him in the gut. He tried for the DDT again, but the Guardia Negra spun out and slammed AJ into the mat to earn the three and win the B Block.
J1 Summit - Block A
GRIM [4] vs. Naoki Ojima [2]
1 Fall - 30 Minute Time Limit
Red Tiger Kid accompanied Ojima while Falcon Hamada followed GRIM. Takano explained that if Ojima were to win, there would be a three way tie for first place in Block A between he, GRIM and Danielson. The tie-breaking method would be determined by who won their match the quickest and as it stands, Danielson holds the lead at nineteen minutes, nine seconds. GRIM and Ojima circled around, starting off slow with holds and gradually working into the strikes. Ojima showed why he's one of the top prospects of 2019, hanging with the seven year veteran each step of the way. Ojima got a bit overzealous after he hit a German suplex, he tried to string it into a second one but GRIM blocked it - elbowed his way free, then delivered a Saito suplex. GRIM called for the end, slashing his thumb across his throat before scooping up Ojima for the Tombstone Piledriver. Ojima slipped out the back door and grabbed onto the rear waist hold, delivering the German suplex to the King of the Dead! The Osaka crowd came alive for it and Ojima used the energy to grab GRIM off the mat, power slam him and then head up to the second rope. He leapt off with a moonsault, but GRIM got his knees up. Ojima rolled across the mat in pain as GRIM recovered, seeing his opponent on his knees - he clamped on the rear naked choke! He yanked Ojima to his feet, but the youngster crashed him back first into the turnbuckles. GRIM held on, but spun around to try and pull Ojima away from the ropes - Ojima kicked off the buckles and tried to backflip out but landed upside down, pinning GRIM's shoulders to the mat for the surprise three! The Osaka crowd erupted, GRIM protested the decision as Ojima leapt up and down, hearing the time of the match - 15:41! This meant Ojima would meet Ravenna in the finals on Friday! Billy Danielson came from the back, walking right past Ojima to get in GRIM's face. He chastised the King of the Dead for losing, saying it was HIS fault that Danielson wouldn't be in the finals and shoved him down. Falcon Hamada got in the ring and started beating on him, which drew AJ Knight out from the back and before long - we had all four involved in the upcoming World tag title bout brawling around the ringside area to close out the show.
