It was typical promo with Chris Ravenna holding the Junior Heavyweight Championship on his shoulders. But its message would be different. How? Let’s see what the champion has to say.
“On a personal level, I actually respect Hammerstein. Hall of Famer, World Champion, he is considered to be one of my heroes.”
That was a good compliment from the “Cold Heart”.
“Actually, you know what. Fuck you, Hammerstein.”
“I didn’t say one word to talk down on you. And yet you think that I’ve underestimated you. Yeah, when you acknowledge how impressive I was in the J1 Summit, you followed up saying that all I did was to get a front row seat to get my ass kicked.”
At this point, Ravenna was actually pissed.
“You know, it’s funny because at first when GRIM and Nakama went for your sorry ass to talk shit about you, you came to defend yourself on why you are THE World Heavyweight Champion. And now you come to me and say that I could get my ass kicked saying that I couldn’t defeat you. And why is that, Mr. Big-Shot? Is it because you have just defeated one person that I couldn’t beat? Is it because I’m just a FUCKIN’ Junior Heavyweight?”
“Let me be clear to you, punyeta.”
Now Ravenna’s anger became more intense.
“THIS Junior Heavyweight ended half-year reign of Eron “Lynx” Hunter. THIS Junior Heavyweight became a champion, not once BUT TWICE. THIS Junior Heavyweight owned most of the Heavyweights in the J1 Summit. When I won that tournament, I showed everyone how much I grinded my ass for this, and here we are. Heavyweight vs Junior Heavyweight at Dynamism. Champion vs Champion.”
“What makes more interesting is that you just broke the winning streak of Nakama. It was a perfect opportunity for me to beat you and rise up the ranks. If I couldn’t beat you for that title, I couldn’t beat anyone else. The roster would see that I’m just a weak wrestler. They will have a chance to prevail over me once again. I can’t afford it to lose our match.”
“Back then, I already told you that I need more time and experience to face you for the King of Lion’s Heavyweight Championship. And now with victories over the Heritage Cup and J1 Summit, I have the legitimacy for a title shot for both of your title belts, Hammerstein. And I earned it out of hard work, and if I lose the match to you, these victories and everything I work for would mean nothing. And people will suddenly turn on me and said that I’m nothing but a joke. ‘I won a tournament and earned a title shot, but failed to capture it. What a joke,’ they said.”
Ravenna felt those words like it was so traumatic for him. He remembered the humiliation from the 2016 Passion of the Juniors Cup where he lost the finals to his rival, Cassius Reed. He was driven to be successful ever since.
“That’s why I invested more time to achieve excellence in strikes and submissions. That’s why I became a shoot wrestler, Hammerstein. I won’t allow that Junior Heavyweights like me to be lower than Heavyweights. I won’t allow that shoot wrestler like me and Toyama-sensei to be weaker than other pro wrestlers or “sports entertainers” they say. I won’t allow myself to be a second placer for the rest of MY LIFE! AND ALSO I WON’T ALLOW MYSELF TO LOSE BECAUSE THE CHAMPION IS BELOVED BY MANY WHILE IM JUST A NOBODY!”
Ravenna’s dark thoughts brought up and it transformed into a fit of anger, a motivation to win.
“You said that it would be best that I shouldn’t miss. You better know that I WILL. I only have ONE shot to win that match. At MAXIMUM’s DYNAMISM, you will prove to me that you have the legitimacy for the title once again. As for you, I will show you that I’ll never be a second placer to everyone, everybody’s shadow.”
Ravenna was about to end his promo until he has one more thing to address.
“Oh, and by the way, you may wonder if I was trying to intimidate you after your match against Nakama. Well, let’s just say that that’s what lions do to the other lions…” Ravenna uttered it as self-proclaimed the War Lion of Laguna calling out the King of Lions.
“…especially when a lion has a cold heart.”
