Well sports fans, we are two days into the J1 SUMMIT and so far the mountainous types are showing off they know how to hike to the top! The “Man of the Mountain” Mike Musket leads Block A while “Mountain” Shinjiro Nakama leads Block B. But there is still a lot of tournament left to go. Can anyone topple these two mountainous figures?
The Mirai Dome has been on fire, as well. The fans are in their gear and representing their favorite wrestlers. Per usual, the Demon Brigade has the largest fan support. At the last show we counted nearly 2,000 fans wearing the all-black t-shirt! And that plush ZENKI doll is... well, it's a little creepy. But Shinjiro Nakama’s Mountain Bros have stepped it up, seemingly coming out of nowhere. Word has it that these young men spend copious amounts of hours in the gym to get #shinjiroswole. With Nakama’s performance in the tournament thus far, they’ll need a lot of strength to keep up all the cheering they’ll be doing!

A few new faces have joined the roster and will be debuting shortly. On 8/10, MJPW will see the debut of “OUTLAW” Jun Vegas, an American-born Japanese pro-wrestler who proudly wears his heritage on sleeve. Typically seen in a white fur coat and cowboy hat, we’ll see how he performs in the ring when he teams up with MAX Jr. Heavyweight Champion METAL HERO to take on Mike Musket and James Edwards. Another recent signing is the mysterious masked wrestler Lynx who fights out of Hiroshima. Not much is known about him except that he is a tremendous athlete with exceptional aerial agility. Rumor has it he will debut on 8/30.
Amidst all this excitement, I almost forgot that we still don't know who is going to face METAL HERO for the MAX Jr. Heavyweight Championship! Behind that dark, creepy fishbowl looking helmet you could tell that he wanted a piece of Daichi Kusumoto. With the J1 SUMMIT going on, it's hard to say... if it's someone from the tournament, it's possible we could have one person become the new junior champ and J1 winner! That would be nuts. Well, it just looks like we'll have to see.
Day 3 of the J1 SUMMIT is on August 10th ~ just three days away! I can't wait!
